Riviera Maya, Mexico

Hey beach babes!! Despite living in Texas for a total of eight years, I had never vacationed to Mexico. I was invited for a quick stay in Riviera Maya and it was quite the treat! (Cue margarita glasses!)

This time last year I was fortunate to set off for a three week international journey and Riviera Maya was the first stop. We stayed at Grand Velas Resort and it was amazing! From the wonderful food and drink, hospitable staff, unique artwork, and lush landscaping, the resort was a five-star experience. I have been fortunate to stay at several nice resorts and this is my favorite. For those looking for a beach vacation – this is my recommendation! The resort’s beach was the nicest on that strip of resorts. It was was very well maintained with plenty of cabana and lounge space. The food was unbelievable. It is an all-inclusive resort, but it’s not your usual all-inclusive food. I enjoyed everything from sushi to guacamole on the beach. Off the beach they have several restaurants, including a restaurant that serves a 13-course dinner! But despite all of the amazing foods in the resort, nothing beats getting breakfast platters brought to your door on silver trays.A highlight of the trip was the luxurious spa. It’s recommended to arrive approximately 1-2 hours before your spa treatment begins for their rejuvenating hydrotherapy ritual. This ritual is aimed at detoxing impurities, relieving tense muscles and refreshing your skin. You rotate from a series of several rooms, including a clay room and color therapy steam room, and then have the option to rest in their hydrotherapy pool until you begin your spa treatment. The pool has different zones, each with massage jets targeting different areas of your body. After the spa treatment I made sure to spend more time in the pool, enjoying the waterfall massage on my upper back. Feeling completely revitalized, I concluded the day of bliss in their Vitamin C shower, soaking up the nutrient’s many skin benefits.Overall this was one of my favorite resorts I have ever visited! I cannot recommend it enough. It’s not a question of if I will go back for vacation, but rather when I will go back.Until next time, Riviera Maya…cheers.
