At the end of a cold, winter day, I often crave warm soup and comfort clothes. Lately I have loved French onion soup, largely for the fact I enjoy covering it with cheese covered baguette “croutons”. And (confession) eating a dozen cheesy croutons before I even sit down with my soup!
Piña Colada Cake
It may be freezing temperatures outside, but that doesn’t hold me back from having a tropical dessert. Y’all, this piña colada cake is amazing! This was my mom’s idea, and we had a great time making it. (She may have accidentally spilled the wine bottle in the cake mix…)
Soft Muted Bouquet
No matter the occasion, a fresh bouquet of flowers always makes my heart skip a beat. They put a smile on my face and create a serene environment in the house. Not surprisingly, evidence has shown that the power of the flower can bring immediate happiness to recipients of all ages. Flowers have the ability to transform a room, bringing positive, welcoming feelings to those who enter the room. Because of this, flowers are often my go-to gift for friends or occasional splurge on myself to leave around the house.
Strawberry-Pistachio Bark
Hey y’all! It was a true winter weekend here in Texas – with snow and all! It had been a couple years since I last saw snow, so I fully embraced the flurries with a warm fire, mug filled with hot cocoa and fur slippers. My sweet aunt and uncle were in town from Nebraska and they were kind enough to take me out for barbecue at Pecan Lodge – my favorite Dallas barbecue! Tonight I enjoyed the leftovers and finished my meal off with some homemade strawberry-pistachio bark.
Note to Self: 2016
Now that 2016 is officially closed, I can confidently say it was a great year. Last January I was coming off a tough year, filled with immense personal growth and self-discovery, so I was eager for a fresh start. I knew in order to work towards long term goals, I would have to break down some barriers and fears. To kick off 2017, I’m doing a little self-reflection and goal-setting to move forward into the new year.
San Antonio + Texas Hill Country
Living in Dallas there are so many fun towns within driving distance to explore. Some are small, quaint towns with old dance halls and boutiques, others are large metropolises with the big city attractions. For New Years weekend, my boyfriend had a wedding that was scheduled both in the city of San Antonio, and the quiet Hill Country outside of town. We had the best of both worlds!
