Four Healthier Starbucks Drinks You Probably Haven’t Tried

Over the last two months I have really focused on cutting out “non-nutritious calories”. Extra sugars and unhealthy fats led me into a slump in the past that I try to avoid. With a little determination and creativity, we can change habits into a healthier lifestyle. While we could run a whole blog on wellness and nutrition, let’s begin with one common culprit:  Starbucks. Don’t get me wrong, I love treating myself to the seasonal favorites. But life is all about everything moderation. Let’s talk about four healthier Starbucks drinks you probably haven’t tried that can be integrated into our Starbucks runs.

4 Healthier Starbucks Drinks You Probably Haven’t Tried

One:  Chai Brewed Tea + Nonfat Milk. Don’t confuse this with any of the chai drinks that are made from chai concentrate, as those contain a lot of added sugar. Create a warm fall beverage by using the chai tea brewed from the bag and add milk for a creamy alternative to the chai tea latte. Savor the cinnamon, anise and cardamom guilt free. A grande chai brewed tea with half a cup of nonfat milk will run about 40 calories.

Two: Flat White with Almond Milk. When I visited Australia, I became fixated on flat whites. Outside of Australia and New Zealand these are less popular. So what are flat whites? They are espresso mixed with steamed milk to create a warm beverage with a velvety smooth consistency from the microfoam. Order a flat white with almond milk, and a grande flat white will run around 100 calories.

Three:  Iced Passion Tango Herbal Tea + Coconut Milk. Ladies, this is a super healthy and delicious drink that is equally as fun due to its light pink color. The passion tango tea has hints of papaya and mango, paired with a subtle hint of cinnamon. The key to this is ordering it unsweetened. Make it tropical and with a hint of sweetness by having them shake in coconut milk. I order a venti because this drink goes down quickly! A venti iced passion tango herbal tea with half a cup of coconut milk is about 45 calories.

Four:  Cacao Protein Blended Cold Brew (without the sweetening syrup). So I am going to say up front, this drink is not for everyone. It has, however, become my daily staple on my way to a shift at the hospital because it provides energy and satiety to hold me over until a meal. The protein blended cold brew drinks are brand new to Starbucks and I am obsessed. The way to order it without all the added sugar is to ask for it without the “banana date fruit blend”, which essentially is a sugary syrup. This will make the drink a little more bitter but it brings out the cacao flavor for almost a dark chocolate meal replacement given the protein supplement. The coconut milk and cacao blend will provide a touch of natural sweetness. A grande cacao protein blended cold brew without the sweetening syrup will run around 200 calories, including 10 grams of protein.

Honorable mention:  Sugar Free Cinnamon Dolce Latte with Almond Milk. For all the fall feels this one should probably be tagged onto the list as well. Spice up your day with a comforting blend of espresso and cinnamon. A tall rolls in at around 80 calories.

Fall Floral Outfit:  Yellow is my spirit color, especially when it comes to fall! Wearing yellow, you cannot help but feel optimistic and uplifted. I love this affordable LOFT outfit for early fall (or even through November here in Texas) because it is airy but rich in fall tones. The golden yellow top features ruffled short sleeves with a slight bell flare. Available in yellow, light pink, or deep pink, I recommend sizing down if you are between sizes. The shirt is reasonably priced and also available in petite and tall sizing. (This is a similar option to this shirt.) Pair it with this daisy floral a-line skirt to tie the look together for a happy, uplifting fall outfit!

I want to hear what Starbucks drinks you enjoy that are healthy! Please share any and all suggestions down below in the comments.

Live your life joyfully so,

Ashley
