Adventuring in the Dominican Republic | Casa de Campo Resort

When one of my good friends announced she was getting married in the Dominican Republic, we were excited to attend the celebration and visit the white sandy beaches in the Caribbean. Unfortunately, soon after the announcement of her wedding plans, the news started reporting several American’s deaths occurring in the Dominican Republic resorts. We did our research on the situation and made an educated decision to proceed forward in our travel plans given our resort had prestigious reviews that had verified their safety and high standards. After four days in the Dominican I can say we are very happy with our decision, and we had a wonderful stay with our friends adventuring in the Dominican Republic.

The Casa de Campo Resort is about a 45 minute drive away from Punta Cana. Landscapes of lush greenery, flowering trees and tropical plants greet you as you enter the resort. Inside the resort are several activities, including swimming pools, horseback riding, skeet shooting, world-renowned golf courses and more. The beaches also offer many water sports for the adventurous, as well as shaded cabanas for those who need rest and recovery.

Every hotel room is provided with a golf cart to drive around the 7,000 acres within the resort. We loved exploring all the different areas, neighborhoods and golf courses!

On our second day we hopped on a 20 minute boat ride to the nearby Catalina Island for a mini excursion. On the island, you can relax on the beach, hike trails or rent snorkeling gear to explore the bay. We had such a memorable time snorkeling and came across starfish and schools of beautiful, blue fish! This was Michael’s first time snorkeling, so I am hoping the experience caught him hook, line and sinker!

We explored many of the restaurants on the property and each were exceptional in their own unique way. One of our favorites was a seafood restaurant located on a pier within the marina. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the ocean as we dined on upscale local cuisine.

Every meal was an adventure. Whether it was a culinary taste from around the world to local fare, the food did not disappoint. Equally as incredible were the distinct views many of the restaurants offered, whether on the land or overlooking the water.

Mornings often consisted of coffee and a scrumptious buffet, followed by a walk along a trail that spiraled through the world-renowned Teeth of the Dog golf course and the coast. I could wake up everyday with the ocean breeze and sunny skies!

My friend’s wedding was situated near a landing overlooking the Chavon River Valley below. The views created the perfect romantic landscape to celebrate their wedding. Surrounding the wedding location in Altos de Chavon were charming buildings which were built using local stones from the river valley.

Overall, adventuring in the Dominican Republic was a trip I will never forget. Despite the news reports on the Dominican Republic, we felt safe and at ease during our stay. We dined at the restaurants and drank from their bars. Their hospitality and beautiful resort justifies their five star rating. If you are looking for a coastal getaway, I cannot recommend Casa de Campo enough!

Live your life joyfully so,

Ashley
