Hello friends and happy Easter! I hope everyone is doing well despite our current circumstances. With all the current chaos in the world, I am trying find peace by focusing on the positives. I work full time as an ER Physician Assistant and have been taking care of lower risk COVID-19 patients, and my heart is full of love from community support! Each day I am greeted by hand-crafted notes of encouragement from local children – their love and creativity has been a fantastic way to start the day! These notes and pictures are taped up on the walls in the Physician/Physician Assistant workspace and have become our cheerleaders throughout this time, keeping us motivated and positive through each shift.
And on a personal note, I have a very exciting update to share…!!
A little over a year ago, I met my sweetheart, Michael. On our first date, we went to a local wine bar for happy hour, followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant and talked until the restaurant closed. In the big city of Dallas, we discovered we attended the same church and even had a few friends in common. I knew that first night he was “the one”. Michael has seen me at my best and worst, and through it all been there with open arms and a smile.
A few months ago we had both requested off work to attend a tulip festival followed by a romantic dinner at a local Italian restaurant. Plans were cancelled due to covid, so we opted for delicious take-out, gourmet ice cream and wine. That night, on March 20, Michael asked me to be his forever…. we are engaged!!
After we happily danced around and popped a bottle of champagne, we took the opportunity to Face Time our friends and family to share our news. Our faces were glued with a smile.
We are both over-the-moon excited for the time ahead of us. And we are eager to celebrate our quarantine engagement with loved ones. Because we are limited on where we can currently celebrate, Michael and I decided to go to the hottest spot in town: the grocery store! We went dressed to impressed!! A trip for apples and frozen pizza has never been more eventful! While that trip to the grocery store was so silly, it’s a sign of the times that we will be able to share with our children someday.
Michael is one of the most likable and loving men I know, and I cannot wait to share more of him to you.
