Hi friends and happy Friday!! Today is an early preview of one of the biggest fashion events of the season: the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale! Twice per year Lilly Pulitzer has a hugely popular two to three day sale, called the After Party Sale, with items discounted over half off. Due to the popularity of the sale, items go extremely fast online so it is important to have a little knowledge ahead of time. Each of the past sales, Joyfully So’s After Party Sale Guide turns out to become the most popular posts of the year. And friends, this Lilly Pulitzer Summer 2018 After Party Sale Guide will be the biggest yet! This guide is packed with a look book, sale tips, and pricing predictions for specific items and categories. The Lilly Pulitzer style represents happiness for women of all ages, so if you love colorful clothing and feeling empowered you are in the right place!

When is the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale? Traditionally the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale occurs in January and August. However for this season’s sale will be September 10-12, 2018!

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale: Tips

- The sale online will be in late August or early September. Lilly Pulitzer stores will likely start the After Party Sale the day before the online sale as a preview. Traditionally the sale starts in mid-late August. However this year may be the exception for a start in early September. Store selection may be more limited but it’s the best way to truly see and feel the items on sale. Expect a line outside the stores to start early.
- Become familiar with their new website. A couple of weeks ago, Lilly Pulitzer launched a new layout to their website. Become familiar with it in advance so you can navigate easily – because items will go quickly!
- Set up and verify a Lilly Pulitzer account in advance. Having your Lilly Pulitzer account pre-created saves time at checkout. Have address and billing information (optional) entered into your Lilly Pulitzer account. Since their website changed in August, not all prior account information was rolled over. (My address and billing information were not saved from the old website.) Verify your information in advance. Lilly Pulitzer has said you will not be able to do this on the morning of September 10, prior to 7am CST, so I recommend doing managing your account now.
- Know your ‘True Fit’ sizing in advance. Since all sales are final, invest a few minutes to learn what sizes you wear in Lilly Pulitzer. Doing this in advance will save time during the sale.
- Be ready for the online sale to start. The sale usually begins at 7am CST in the morning. By 7:01 there will be a virtual line to get into the sale on the Lilly website that is several thousand people long. Starting at 6:59 am I click refresh often until the sale begins. Once you are in the sale or in a virtual line, do not click refresh. If you refresh while in the virtual line you will lose your place and the wait time will start over.
- The virtual line to get into the sale online usually goes faster than predicted. For example, if the wait time is listed at an hour, you will often have access to the sale in less than an hour. There is a ringing sound that is made when you are moved from the virtual line into the After Party Sale so keep your volume up.
- Plan in advance and shop quickly. Items go very fast, especially more popular items like unique prints, embroidered items, and jewelry. Shift dresses, above all, tend to go first. Know what you want from the sale in advance. Refer to my After Party Sale 2018 Pricing Estimates guide below to help budget your wishlist. Remember items are not reserved just because they are in your shopping cart. The purchase must be completed in order to reserve items. Once you complete the purchase, if you want to re-enter the sale you have to start the wait time over again.
- Check back on the sale periodically for added items. Lilly Pulitzer will add new items to the sale throughout the sale. Usually the second day of the online sale has a handful of new pieces and minimal to no wait time. Lilly Pulitzer often notifies customers over social media or email when new items are added.
- Stock up on gifts for others. I love giving my mom a beautiful Lilly Pulitzer cashmere cardigan and the sale is the perfect time to take advantage of high quality gifts at a fraction of the price.

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale: Pricing Estimates
Being completely transparent, I do not work at Lilly Pulitzer. That would be so much fun though! These pricing predictions are just estimates based on experience and past market trends. I pay close attention to the patterns (pun intended) of the sale and want to share this knowledge with you so you can fulfill your wishlist.
These pricing estimates are divided into two main sections. The first section is price estimates for specific categories as a whole, such as “dresses” and “pants”. The second section is more detailed, with price estimates for specific items. For example, the Sleeveless Elsie Top will probably run around $24. Each item listed may come in multiple prints and colors which can affect the price. The very popular prints are usually sold at the higher of the price range listed, and the less popular prints usually fall into the lower price range listed.

Hi Angie! I am so excited for the sale too. I could be wrong (I’m just a Lilly outsider that is fascinated with Lilly) but my suspicion is low that the UPF Sophiletta dress in Bennet Blue will be in the sale since it’s currently listed on their website and is relatively newer. Definitely keep an eye out though! I recommend searching specifically for it on the morning the sale starts because those popular prints tend to go quickly. Have fun!!
Thanks! I saw someone post elsewhere today that the dates will be September 4 through 6, for both in-store and online. If so, I’m bummed. I had planned to take the day off work for the first day of the sale, and it would look really poor to take the day off after Labor Day. I’m hoping the in-store would at least be the day before as I believe has been the case in prior years.

Thanks so much for the info! Really hoping to see the Cailee halter dress as I’m kicking myself for not buying it earlier when it was still on the website! Trying to decide between XS and S. If you don’t mind me asking, what size are you wearing? I am 5’2″ and my Lilly stash is pretty evenly split between XS and S and my numerical dresses range from 00 to 6 depending on the fabric and stretch. Thanks! 🙂
Hi Jen! That’s actually a great sign it is no longer available because it may be included in the sale! Last I saw all sizes were available, meaning it likely didn’t sell out. I was wearing an XS and thought it fit perfectly. I’m normally a size 2 in Lilly. Hope that helps!
