Random Acts of Kindness | Coastal Mountains Dress

While I love sharing a lot about fashion on Joyfully So, the purpose and intent behind Joyfully So is to cultivate joy. What makes you happy? What makes those around you smile? What do you look forward to in the morning? Those are thoughts I think about on good days, but especially on bad days. My mom, one of the wisest and most selfless people I know, tells me when life gets tough, don’t feel sorry for yourself but rather focus on those around you. Make the world a better place. Help others and in turn, you will help yourself.

One of the most underrated ways to help others is through random acts of kindness. I believe God puts people into our day to day life for a reason. So often we don’t know that reason, but each encounter invites the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s day for the better. Random acts of kindness are often simple gestures that can uplift someone’s spirit, and in turn make yourself feel good. Here are a few ideas for random acts of kindness…

  • Give a business a positive review online
  • Let a parent with young kids step in line in front of you at the supermarket
  • Bake cookies for the local fire station
  • Send a long lost friend a card via snail mail, just because
  • Compliment a janitor for a job well done
  • Donate blood
  • Put coins into a parking meter that is about to run out of time
  • Bring a coworker Starbucks
  • Email a former mentor or teacher telling them, “thanks”
  • Talk to the elderly
  • Mail a solider a letter
  • Pay for someone’s dry cleaning
  • Donate to a random fundraiser
  • Text someone how awesome they are
  • Plant a tree or fund a new tree
  • Donate old towels to the animal shelter
  • Compliment a parent on how well behaved their child is
  • Write a recommendation for someone on LinkedIn
  • Send dessert to another table
