What I am Eating to Get Toned for My Wedding

With a wedding in a few weeks, I have been improving my eating habits, focusing on healthier options. My hope is to get more toned for my wedding and that starts with nutrition. I work a busy schedule, so convenience is key! In addition, we have been trying to limit time inside of the grocery stores during the pandemic. By using Walmart’s Online Pickup and Delivery service, we improved our healthy habits and saved time in the process.

A sample of what I am eating to get toned for my wedding:

Breakfast

  • Yogurt: I eat a yogurt on most days and love the creamy consistency. In addition, yogurt is a good source of calcium and probiotics, which keep skin looking radiant! My two favorites are the Two Good and Oikos Triple Zero because they taste delicious and are lower in sugar.
  • Oatmeal: Michael can make a delicious homemade oatmeal blend with cacao nibs and goji berries. When I am in a rush, I opt for these lower sugar packets.

Lunch

  • Protein Bar: If I am in a rush, I will eat a thinkThin protein bar. Specifically, my favorite is the crunchy peanut butter for its texture. This brand makes 150 cal options, but I opt for the full size as it provides more satiety.
  • Egg White Omelet: I love a good egg white omelet! This is my go to option if we are out for brunch or if I want a savory meal in the mid-day. I usually keep a bag of fresh spinach on hand and love adding a serving of Tillamook cheese, topped with cracked pepper and fajita seasoning.
  • Salad: Walmart has great salad kits that are easy and quick to assemble. My favorite is the Asian chopped salad kit! I love the slivered almonds and crunchy wonton strips. To keep it healthy, I limit the amount of salad dressing.

Dinner

  • Grilled Fresh Foods: Michael is a great cook, and I am so grateful that he loves to grill! We enjoy making fresh vegetable kabobs and grilled chicken or shrimp. If we want to simplify the process, we use these fresh grilled veggie kabobs as they include some of our favorite vegetables.
  • Dumplings: I have been on a dumpling kick lately! I think its the saltiness after a hot summer day has me craving salty and savory. I cook these on the skillet and add a little of the sauce on the side for dipping.
  • Taco Salad: It doesn’t have to be taco Tuesday for me to crave anything and everything taco. I cook extra lean turkey, season it and add lettuce, tomato, salsa, cheese and pico for a satisfying meal. I know a lot of people don’t eat cheese when trying to lean out however it’s what keeps me satisfied!
  • Stir Fry: These stir fry kits are delicious! I usually unthaw and cook frozen shrimp, add frozen cauliflower rice and an egg white to create a healthy high fiber meal.

Snacks

  • Honeycrisp apples: These little gems always leave me satisfied! I look forward to eating one or two of these daily. (This fall I am going to try cook them in the crockpot with a little pumpkin pie spice for a savory fall treat!)
  • Almonds: I used to not like almonds, however now there are so many options to spice them up. My favorite are these wasabi and soy sauce which carry an extra kick! Fair warning, it’s hard to not eat more than one serving!
  • Sugar snap peas and hummus: Crunchy and savory! I mix it up frequently, but tend to opt for the hummus flavors that have a little spice!
  • Fresh broccoli: I know this sounds lame, but I love a bowl of steamed broccoli with seasoned salt!
  • Chocolate: I love chocolate! I probably eat a little bit of chocolate everyday because life deserves a small daily indulgence. These dark chocolate and peanut butter candies are one of my go-to treats.

In addition to some of my food choices above, I also exercise a few times per week to promote lean muscle growth and toning, and drink a lot of water.

One factor to success of a healthy lifestyle is convenience in order for it to be maintained. Walmart’s Online Pickup and Delivery Service has made eating healthy so much more convenient! I also love that the entire pickup process is contactless. Simply notify Walmart in their app that you have arrived to the store, pop the trunk and your groceries are loaded up for you. The pickup service is free and there are no additional fees or markup on your purchase – whoop! Freshness is guaranteed; if you are not 100% satisfied then you can get your money back.

A few more time saving tips: Save items you order frequently to your “favorites”. This makes grocery shopping very efficient as you can go to your “favorites page” and add items from there with a click. They also offer a delivery service which has a small fee but the items are the same price as in store, no markups.

Cheers to a healthier lifestyle!

Live your life joyfully so,

Ashley
